“Berlin is one of the largest and most diverse academic regions in Europe. Some 200,000 people from all over the world work, study, teach and conduct research at Berlin’s universities, polytechnics, art colleges, private universities and other research facilities. I am very pleased that DUW has chosen our region as the site of its teaching and research activities, bringing another private university to Berlin.

I am especially happy that Berlin now has a university explicitly devoted to academic continuing education for working professionals, a need that has been sorely neglected. The innovative structural model of the university, held jointly by one of our renowned public universities, Freie Universität Berlin, and a European leader in the education sector, the Klett Group, is a landmark in education and research far beyond the borders of Berlin. I wish DUW and its members a successful start.”
