Research Facilities at DUW

DUW has two strong research facilities, the Research Institute for Compliance, Security Management and Enterprise Security (FORSI) and the Centre for Continuing Education Research and Education Management (FWB).

FORSI is devoted to all aspects of compliance, security management and enterprise security. FWB supports the development of research-based programmes of study through applied continuing education research, and investigates the general conditions for successful academic continuing education.

The founding of a new research platform in the Department of Health Care is planned for 2010. Its purpose is the development of suitable learning arrangements for postgraduate continuing education in the medical and health care field. One area of emphasis will be ageing. Because of the many interrelated issues in this area, research will be carried out in transdisciplinary cooperation with the departments of Business and Management, Education and Communication.

The Department of Communication will establish its research programme in the second half of 2010. Its focus will be on corporate communications and on the connection between mass media and the challenge of lifelong learning.

FORSI

The Research Institute for Compliance, Security Management and Enterprise Security — FORSI for short — was founded in 1999 as the Security Industry Research Centre at the University of Hamburg. From its initial purpose of filling existing gaps in security management research, FORSI has grown into a recognized source of expertise in public discourse in research and practice, in business and in public administration.

FORSI

With the move to DUW in Berlin, FORSI is expanding its areas of research. The research institute’s approach is intradisciplinary and transdisciplinary. In applied research, FORSI develops holistic, practical solutions to problems in the areas of compliance, security management and enterprise security.
