Prof. Dr. Peter Filzmaier

Prof. Peter Filzmaier is the Academic Director of the master’s degree course in European Public Affairs in the Department of Communication at DUW. Prof. Filzmaier is a political scientist and director of the Department of Political Communication at Danube University, Krems, and professor at the University of Graz. His areas of emphasis are in public communication and political and electoral analysis.

Curriculum vitae

Prof. Peter Filzmaier is a political scientist. Since 2006 he has been Professor of Democracy Studies and Policy Research and Director of the Department of Political Communication at Danube University, Krems. Since 2010 he has been Professor of Political Communication at the University of Graz, and since 2007 he has been Managing Partner of the Institute for Strategic Analysis (ISA) in Vienna.

Prof. Filzmaier’s areas of emphasis are public communication, political and electoral analysis, civic education and participation research, politics and media, the Internet and democracy, and political systems in comparison (especially political systems and processes in the EU and the US).

Doctoral studies in political science at the University of Vienna; 2001, habilitation in political science at the universities of Innsbruck and Klagenfurt; to 2004, Associate Professor of Political Science, University of Innsbruck; to 2006, Director, Department of Civic Education and Policy Research, University of Klagenfurt; former Secretary General of the Austrian Political Science Association (AuPSA).

Myriam Nauerz is a Research Associate and the Course Director of the Master of Arts course in European Public Affairs in the Department of Communication at DUW. In 2004 she completed her master’s degree in European Political and Administrative Studies, with emphasis in European integration, at the College of Europe in Bruges.
