Maximum flexibility and self-directed study: these are the key requirements for a course of study designed with today’s working professionals in mind. The DUW study model addresses both of these requirements.
For example: The continuing education courses leading to a master’s degree at DUW are designed to take 24 months in most cases. Your study materials and online seminars present most of the course content and allow you to schedule your learning flexibly: learn whenever and wherever you choose in supervised independent study. The on-site seminars complement and solidify the course content. The on-site seminars are distributed in intervals of about three months over the entire duration of the programme, and limited to a total of 18 days. This saves your vacation time and helps you integrate your continuing education studies in your professional and personal life. And in case you’re unable to attend a given on-site seminar, you can simply make it up later. Studies at DUW are designed to be flexible so that your learning progress is guaranteed.
The five-day field trip is a special learning and teaching format, and an integral part of all master’s degree courses at DUW. As an opportunity for a supervised, reflective examination of key aspects of the professional field concerned, the field trip plays a special part in ensuring that your continuing education studies are relevant to actual practice.
An important component of your course of study at DUW, assessments secure your learning outcomes and also provide you with a personal measure of your progress. The spectrum ranges from self-assessment assignments to optional homework which you can submit to obtain specific feedback from your instructors, to graded examinations.
