Module 1: Conditions and Context
The first module is centred on the challenges of corporate education and skills management in the context of the prevailing social and economic conditions. The module content emphasizes skills-oriented recruiting and personnel development, organizational and strategic development, and the adaptation of the lifelong learning paradigm to your specific professional and corporate environment.
Module 2: Education Planning and Education Controlling
This module deals with the various roles and responsibilities for learning in the workplace, and focuses on the complete cycle of skills-oriented personnel management. You will work with the principal stages of education planning and education controlling, from planning for specific target groups to structure and organization, to quality management. In each stage, you will become familiar with the necessary instruments and apply them to example cases.
Module 3: Innovation and Vision
In the third module you explore ways of developing future-oriented corporate education and personnel work. The foremost question is how modern learning architectures and learning cultures can be developed for enterprises and organizations. In this context you will work extensively with the potential uses of new media in developing skills in the corporate environment. In addition, you will examine the role of management as promoters of learning, and management’s strategic responsibilities in regard to skills diagnostics and skills development.
Module 4: General Management
This module strengthens your basic management skills, and imparts insights into key processes in the activities of modern organizations. You acquire the skills you need as a personnel and education manager in the areas of change management, enterprise management and controlling, and project management and practice transfer. Special attention is given to ensuring the sustainability of the skills you acquire in the course, and transferring them to actual practice.
Module 5: Personal Skills
The fifth module is centred on expanding your personal skills in knowledge management, leadership and cross-cultural communication — skills that have become indispensable for specialists and executives in the field of personnel development and education management. This module strengthens your personal abilities in dealing with knowledge, with people, and with different cultures and roles, including expert cultures, in the corporate context.
Module 6: Master’s Thesis
To conclude your course of study, you will write a scientifically grounded master’s thesis that connects theory and practice. Your thesis may be on a specific project from your own professional context, or on a general topic in the field of education and skills management. The objective in either case is to discuss an issue that is relevant to practice using the knowledge and methods you have acquired and augmented during your course of study at DUW, and to propose an answer based on your discussion.
In developing your master’s thesis, as in all other phases of your studies at DUW, you will receive academic supervision and thorough guidance counselling.
