You will learn to solve the challenges involved in compliance with regard to your day-to-day work, such as regulatory requirements in the field of business law or IT, in a balanced combination of individual study, online and in-class units. You will also be able to harmonize the implementation and enforcement of compliance with the overall strategic goals of your enterprise or organization. As in all of DUW’s continuing education programs, the focus of your course of study is on relevance to professional practice: throughout the master’s degree program at DUW, you will bring in issues and problems involving compliance that arise in your own work, and examine them in the light of current research findings and methods. At the same time, you will be able to integrate and test your new and deeper knowledge in your day-to-day professional activity.
The Master’s Degree Program in Compliance is aimed at employees at all levels in businesses, government agencies and organizations in all industries who deal with regulatory compliance. This program of study is particularly advantageous for those who:
- want to take up a management, executive or interdepartmental position in the field of compliance;
- work as experienced specialists in a legal, commercial, or data processing department;
- want to address compliance issues in their practice as consultants.
Whether your work is concerned with data privacy, Basel II, the Bilanzrechtsmodernisierungsgesetz (German Accounting Law Modernization Law, BilMoG), capital market regulations, anti-corruption laws, or anti-trust rules such as price-fixing prohibitions, the compliance issues involved always affect all areas of a business or other organization. From decisions on corporate goals to monitoring of staff conformance with rules and regulations, all processes in a company or organization must adhere to specifications and be oriented towards effective compliance. As a compliance officer or manager, you use your knowledge of legal, management and IT issues to develop company-wide guidelines that ensure compliant behavior. You implement and optimize these specifications, and monitor their observance.
