Compliance
Grave violations of regulations are becoming increasingly frequent in business practice — the most recent data privacy and financial scandals are only the latest in a long series. Because companies, government agencies and organizations operate in an ever denser fabric of national and international laws and regulations, the danger that they may fail to comply with all applicable regulations increases constantly. Failure to comply with regulations is a high risk, since violators are prosecuted. In addition to financial losses, substantial damage to the company’s image can result. Consequently, failure to comply with regulations can lead to the loss of clients, partners, and public attention.
For this reason, there is a demand for experts who, like comptrollers, have a comprehensive view of all processes and workflows in an enterprise or an organization, and are familiar with the many interdependencies between the various areas. Such experts observe planning and supervision, and ultimately all processes, up to the development and realization of an appropriate corporate or organizational strategy for effective compliance.
The continuing education master’s degree programme in compliance prepares you, as a specialist or executive, to take on complex management responsibilities in the compliance field. At the intersection of ethics, law, management and information technology, you will deal with practical issues in the development, optimization and implementation of corporate and organizational guidelines to ensure behavior that complies with regulations, and with monitoring adherence to those guidelines.
