As a manager responsible for personnel compliance, you ensure that staff members’ actions are correct and in conformance with regulations and corporate standards. You support the implementation of staff information systems, and are familiar with the limitations placed on compliance processes by labor law. In cases of violations in the organization, you control the appropriate sanctions and mediate solutions to conflicts.

The Certificate Program in Personnel Compliance teaches you the essential skills you need in this field involving ethics, labor law and criminal law. You will identify the relevant regulations for your organization and examine principles of employee ethics and specialized legal issues such as whistle-blowing. You will learn how to motivate employees to act in conformance with regulations. You will also learn how to avoid crisis situations before they happen, and how to identify and classify potentially criminal cases, such as corruption.

    Course Goals

    The Certificate Program in Personnel Compliance teaches the knowledge, abilities and skills in ethics, labor law, and management that you need in order to meet all challenges pertaining to compliance and personnel efficiently and effectively. Building on principles of personnel ethics that you learn to draw on as an important foundation of your personnel management, you will be able on completion of the certificate program to identify the potentials and challenges of personnel compliance and the limitations that labor law places on implementations of compliance processes. At the same time, you will be able to ensure continuous conformance with the requirements of labor law. You will be able to answer specialized legal questions in regard to your professional practice on issues such as insider knowledge and whistle-blowing, the employer’s authority to give instructions, limits on standard and specialized work contracts, and employee representation. Furthermore, you will be able to implement staff information systems designed to meet the demands of company-wide compliance. In this way you can ensure that your employees act in accordance with regulations, whether in regard to gifts, personal use of company communication systems, or principles of business and general ethics. In keeping with a comprehensive personnel compliance approach, you will be able to promote conditions that prevent crisis situations and conflicts arising from violations. When violations do occur, you will be able to classify them by criminal categories, such as corruption, and correctly identify the associated legal risks. You will be able to respond appropriately to staff conflicts and contribute to their solution with mediation and other instruments.

    Conditions of Admission

    To enroll in the Certificate Program in Personnel Compliance, you must have:

    • An undergraduate degree and at least one year’s work experience, or
    • An equivalent qualification in the form of a qualification for admission to higher education, completed vocational training, and at least 2 years’ related work experience with leadership responsibilities, or
    • An equivalent qualification in the form of completed vocational training and at least 5 years’ related work experience with leadership responsibilities.
