Personal Skills
Even if they are not usually mentioned explicitly in job descriptions or lists of qualifications for a given position, personal skills are needed in practically every profession. Personal skills are those social and personal abilities that people need to work successfully in teams. As the working world becomes increasingly project-oriented, it’s no coincidence that personal skills are at least as important for a successful career as specialized qualifications.
These social and personal abilities include appropriate management of knowledge and skills, awareness in dealing with oneself and others in professional functions, and the ability to work constructively with different cultures, roles and functional disciplines.
The certificate programme in Personal Skills is devoted to these topics. It is composed of three courses — Knowledge Management, Leadership and Cross-cultural Communication — in which you will build those personal and social abilities that have become practically indispensable in day-to-day work, and thus lay the foundation for your future professional success.
Learning Outcomes
The goal of the certificate programme in Personal Skills is the continuing development of your personal and social abilities. Particular attention is given to ensuring the sustainability of the skills you acquire, and to transferring them to your professional practice.
After completing the programme, you will be able to build suitable knowledge management systems in your specific organizational environment: systems that enable you to deal efficiently and appropriately with complex stores of information and knowledge. You will be able to analyze your own leadership behaviour and develop specific strategies for future leadership action in your day-to-day work. Furthermore, you will be able to mediate between different cultures, roles and functional disciplines, including expert cultures, and to respond appropriately to cross-cultural tensions in your professional practice.
