The certificate programme in General Management is based on a comprehensive approach that spans different industries and functions. It emphasizes general management skills that have become practically indispensable for employees in all professions.

The programme focuses on the following areas: change management, involving expert supervision of change in a social system; enterprise management and controlling, dealing with controlling as a management responsibility in shaping substantive processes; and project management and practice transfer, analyzing the conditions that lead to successful projects and creating those conditions in your own professional context.

In all three areas, particular attention is given to ensuring the sustainability of the skills you acquire, and to transferring them to your professional practice.

Course 1: Change Management

This course is closely oriented after the demands of your professional practice, and familiarizes you with the various stages in processes of change in businesses and organizations. Based on specific examples drawn from practice, you will examine approaches to implementing change processes and reasons for the resistance to change that arises on both the individual and organizational levels.

You will analyze the organization’s supporting structures for dealing with resistance, and learn to apply the methods of project management to shape processes of change in your day-to-day work. Special emphasis is given to ensuring your lasting ability to apply your expertise in your professional context. In this connection you will have many valuable opportunities to incorporate your own organizational change projects in the course.

Course 2: Enterprise Management and Controlling

In this course you will examine controlling as a management responsibility. You will study the approaches, elements and processes of controlling as the foundation for information-based enterprise management, and strengthen your understanding of business administration.

You will acquire the ability to use controlling instruments in fulfilling your own planning and management tasks, and to utilize their strategic potential in your professional context.

Course 3: Project Management and Practice Transfer

In this course you will analyze specific projects in order to identify the conditions, on the material and interpersonal levels, on which successful project management depends. You will integrate the methods, instruments and techniques that you learn in a selected practical context. This enables you to relate them directly to your professional environment. A comparative analysis of examples from various fields of practice supports you in identifying good practices and applying them in your own work.
